2006 racing year in review

Posted on 12 January 20073 June 2024 By Steve
Year in review

The first season with my new, more powerful, more “race car-ish” car. A rebuilding season, of a sort, but mainly an opportunity to play with the M3 and have fun racing again. Or so I thought.

2006 Final Dash

Posted on 1 October 20066 May 2021 By Steve
Sprint race

As was somewhat expected, the first race outing for the car resulted in several problems. What wasn’t expected was that the problems would be both numerous enough and severe enough for me to decide to pack it in and head home before the racing had even started. With those issues apparently resolved and the final … Read More “2006 Final Dash” »

Jim Swanson Memorial X

Sprint race

Not counting three enduros in someone else’s car, I haven’t raced in two years. Obviously, this wouldn’t have done anything beneficial as far as my racing skills are concerned, but running a new car meant there was always going to be an element of “rebuilding” this season. Having said that, being forced to wait for … Read More “Jim Swanson Memorial X” »

Four Hours of Pacific Raceways

Endurance race

The “Four Hours of Pacific Raceways” marked the first event in the new Northwest Enduro Racing Series (NWERS), a series thought of and headed by Hal Hilton, ably assisted by a small but vital group of racers and volunteers. The idea was to create an endurance racing championship, incorporating the 8-hour race in Portland as … Read More “Four Hours of Pacific Raceways” »

2005 racing year in review

Year in review

While this year resulted in even less racing than the “virtually none” I had predicted in last year’s report, it was actually more interesting than I would’ve thought. For example, and as Eric mentions in his write-up for mid-October’s Cascade enduro, it was my first race of 2005… despite having owned 3 race cars this … Read More “2005 racing year in review” »

30th Annual CSCC “8 Hours of the Cascades”

Posted on 15 October 20056 May 2021 By Steve
Endurance race

After the well-earned but wholly unexpected results in the 2004 running of Cascade‘s enduro, there was never really any doubt that Eric and I would be back for 2005. Hal really had an itch to run his Porsche 944, though, so Bruce Beachman joined the team in his place. Bruce brought his experience in professional-level … Read More “30th Annual CSCC “8 Hours of the Cascades”” »

2004 racing year in review

Year in review

Oh, the plans I had for 2004! I bought an enclosed trailer and a truck to tow it, I had more work done on the car to make it safer and more competitive, and I wanted to do 8-10 races and take second in the C Production championship. I also wanted to beat Mike Blaszczak … Read More “2004 racing year in review” »

29th Annual CSCC “8 Hours of the Cascades”

Posted on 16 October 20046 May 2021 By Steve
Endurance race

Most sports car racing follows two formats: 20-30 minute sprints, common to club racing and series like SPEED World Challenge, and endurance racing like what you see at Le Mans (so famous they’ve made more than a few movies about it) and in series such as the ALMS. I’d always liked watching the longer races … Read More “29th Annual CSCC “8 Hours of the Cascades”” »

Doernbecher Dash XX

Posted on 26 September 20046 May 2021 By Steve
Sprint race

Having run just three race week-ends by the end of September, and with only two races to go, it was pretty clear there was no way I could even qualify for either the CP or RS championships. Since those last two races were only a week apart and I just didn’t feel like I had … Read More “Doernbecher Dash XX” »

Hot August Days 3

Posted on 8 August 20046 May 2021 By Steve
Sprint race

I wasn’t able to attend the double race week-end in Spokane in July, so this was my first race in two months. Also, for one reason or another, it was the first chance I’d had to really run at my home track (which was turning into less of one all the time, I’ve been running … Read More “Hot August Days 3” »
